Last week Shriya Saran flew down to Chennai for the premiere of her latest release Jaggubhai. Naturally, she was pepped up and was the cynosure of all eyes at the star-studded premiere, held at a popular multiplex.
In fact, Shriya has a lot more to be happy about. The year 2010 has started on a positive note for the lady as her movie Kutty with Dhanush that released for Pongal has gone on to become a hit. Her career is on a roll as she has completed work on Chikku Bukku with Arya in Tamil and has signed a film with Jiiva.
Now, the latest we hear is that, she is doing an item number in SJ Surya’s Telugu film Puli with Pawan Kalyan. Shriya is not new to item numbers though — a few years back, she did an item number in Vadivel’s Indiralokathil Na Azhagappan, for which she received a lot of flak. In Telugu, she is doing an item number for the fifth time and it is reported that she is being paid a bomb for this special cameo.
Shriya says, “There is nothing wrong in doing such numbers. I love to dance and in Puli I’m dancing to the tunes of maestro Rahman. It has Pawan Kalyan, who is a big star, in the lead. The cameraman Binod Pradhan is one of the best in India and Brinda is the choreographer. It also has the finest technicians — I think the song will rock.”
Meanwhile Shriya has started shooting for her first Malayalam film Pokkiri Raja, with Mammootty and Prithviraj, in Kochi. Says she, “ I’m really excited to be doing a Malayalam film — that too with actors of top calibre like Mammootty and Prithviraj. I’m also trying to learn Tamil and Malayalam with the help of tutors.”
On an offbeat note, Shriya is planning to take a backwater cruise later in the week, as she is an avowed nature lover.
