Genelia IN and Jiah OUT in the new film

Bollywood director Ken Ghosh insists that Jiah Khan’s ouster from his upcoming film had nothing to do with her acting capabilities. He says he roped in Genelia as the heroine’s character changed over time. Ken rubbishes rumours that he made the change overnight as he didn’t like the rushes of whatever had been shot of Jiah so far.

“Jiah performs really well. She being replaced has nothing to do with her capabilities as an actress,” Ken said. So how did Genelia come into the picture? “Honestly speaking, it was the sea change in the female protagonist’s character that caused me to make the change. Earlier, the character was a lot hotter and Jiah fit the bill. Now she’s turned much cuter and Genelia turned out to be the perfect choice,” Ken explained.

“At the end of the day, Jiah and Genelia are quite different, whether in terms of looks or attitude. There is a different kind of energy expected from the newlywritten character and I’m getting that from Genelia,” he added.

The film also stars Shahid Kapur. The director said they were yet to zero in on a good title, but added that it would not be called Yahoo as reported earlier.

Chiranjeevi is all set for new role

Prajarajyam president K Chiranjeevi is all excited about attending the Legislative Assembly which is scheduled to start in the first week of June.

In an informal chat with reporters at theparty office on Wednesday, the PRP president said he was eager to be part of the esteemed House, where legislations are passed, public finances approved and also scrutinise the government. "I am all excited to be part of the XIIIth Legislative Assembly. I am eager to learn its functioning and the importance of my role," he said.

Chiranjeevi was curious to learn the nitty-gritty associated with the Assembly and also on the responsibility of being a legislature party leader. The PRP chief was all ears to reporters when they simplified his role in the Assembly. He gave a patient hearing to them on the impending role he would have to perform on the floor of the House.

When Chiranjeevi was informed of being allotted a separate chamber in the assembly, which was previously allotted to the deputy speaker, the PRP chief said he was glad to hear the news. To another query, the PRP chief said he would attend the House without fail and come prepared in advance.

The PRP president said he would have attended the swearing-in ceremony of chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy had he been extended an invitation. "I was very keen, but dropped out after not receiving an invite," he said.

Meanwhile, the Prajarajyam president continued with his massive damage-control exercise to revive the party by holding discussion with runner-up candidates in the recent elections. At least 32 contestants ended runners-up in the elections. He had a detailed interaction with several city leaders on the measures to be initiated for strengthening the party and make it vibrant.

Apart from streamlining the functioning of party office, another noticeable change at the PRP office on Wednesday was the use of the main gate and main door on the north side by the party president. Earlier, he used to drive in through the side-gate and enter the premises through the back door as a security measure. When asked to comment on the development, the PRP staffers remained tightlipped but hinted that it could be something to do with vastu.

"Though the party president inaugurated the office on August 10 last year, he was never known to using either the main entrance or front door. We were given instructions to keep the main gate open," a staffer said.

A contestant who witnessed the party president use the main door said, "A pro-vastu door is very important for the growth of the office and the boss has already been sitting in south-west facing north as per vastu."

PRP took away the votes of TDP

The Congress’ voter base has remained intact while the Telugu Desam lost heavily to the Praja Rajyam, according to the vote percentage each party registered in the 2009 elections. The TD got a combined average of 25.64 per cent votes in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections, against 37.59 per cent in 2004. The Praja Rajyam polled about 15 per cent, pulling away one third of the TD vote base.

With this vote percentage and its performance, the Praja Rajyam qualifies for recognition. It can retain its symbol as it got 15 per cent against the mandatory 6 per cent of the total votes polled.
Notably, the party candidates lost deposits in 22 out of 40 Lok Sabha seats it contested.
The mismatch between the Congress’ performance in the LS and Assembly elections is due to about 3 per cent cross-vote against its Assembly candidates.

The party got 38.95 per cent votes in the LS elections which came down to 36.07 per cent in Assembly. The TD gained from this: its votes in the Assembly polls went up to 26.36 from 24.93 per cent. The 2009 poll statistics show that Congress got 38.95 per cent votes in the LS elections followed by the TD with 24.93. The TRS, CPI and the CPI(M) polled 6.14, 1.58 and 1.27 per cent. The combined vote of the Grand Allaince was still two per cent less than that of Congress.
The BJP polled 3.75 per cent of votes and the BSP got 0.91 per cent votes. While the PR failed to open its score in the LS with 15.26 per cent vote, the TRS with half of that number won two seats.

In the Assembly polls, the Congress got 36.07, TD 26.36, TRS 5.38, CPI(M) 1.89, CPI 1.3 and BJP 3.18 per cent of the votes.Though the PR’s vote percentage in the Assembly poll is not known, it is expected to be slightly above 15 per cent. The PR secured second place only in Visakhapatnam, Kakinada and Amalapuram Lok Sabha and 31 Assembly seats.

Tamanna getting more offers in Tamil than Telugu

After months of hunting around for a lead actress, it looks like Tamil actor Vijay has zeroed in on Tamanna, the fastest rising star in Tollywood and Kollywood, to play his female lead in his prestigious 50th film!

Initially Asin was the choice for the role but as Asin is busy in bollywood, he cannot get the dates of ASIN.

The next best option was the flavour of the season — Tamanna — who had back-to-back super hits (Padikkathavan and Ayan) in tamil. When contacted the actress confirmed that she is playing the lead opposite Vijay. “I was impressed with the script” she discloses. With no Telugu offers in her kitty, she seems to have resolved to stay back in Kollywood.
In Tollywood, she was last seen in KIKK with Siddharth, but her dubbed films like Kalasala, Ananda Thandavam and veedokkade failed to click with the audience.
